Root and flash custom recovery on HTC desire 820



Desire 820 is one of the successful phones by HTC. Desire 820 is powered by Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 64 bit chipset along with 2 GB of RAM. It sports 5.5 inch HD screen with a pixel density of 267 ppi and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Device supports LTE. The primary camera is a 13 megapixel shooter and the secondary camera is an 8 megapixel shooter. Device runs on Android 4.4.2 with HTC Sense UI 6.0 on top. Its houses non-removable 2600 mAh battery.

WHAT DO WE NEED?


- Desire 820

- USB cable
- TWRP Recovery
- supersu.zip
- PC/Laptop

NOTE- TAKE A COMPLETE BACKUP OF YOUR DEVICE. BATTERY MUST BE 85% CHARGED BEFORE STARTING THE PROCESS

STEP 1- First of all you will need to unlock the bootloader by visiting htcdev.com.

STEP 2- Enable USB Debugging. For this go to Settings -> About Phone click on build number several times to enable Developer options in your device. Open Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.

STEP 3- Download SuperSu and TWRP recovery. Place the Supersu.zip in your device. Extract the recovery.rar in one folder
on your PC/Laptop.

STEP 4- Power Off your device and press volume down and power key simultaneously to boot into Fast-boot mode. Now connect your
device to your Laptop/PC. 

STEP 5- Now open the recovery folder and click on flash-recovery.bat. This will flash recovery on your device. 

STEP 6- Now boot into recovery mode click on install zip and select Supersu.zip. Flash it.

ALL DONE!!

Your HTC desire 820 is rooted now and have TWRP custom recovery. You can now flash all the custom ROM(s) to use the most out of your phone.
